RIDC SELLS MCKEESPORT RAIL ROUNDHOUSE

McKeesport, PA, October 4, 2023 — Regional Industrial Development Corporation of Southwestern Pennsylvania (RIDC) has sold the historic McKeesport Connecting Railroad roundhouse, located on a 4-acre parcel at RIDC’s Industrial Center of McKeesport, to W&E Investment LLC for $273,000.

The McKeesport Connecting Railroad was a division of U.S. Steel that connected the National Tube Works Co. and later U.S. Steel’s National Works, to the Pennsylvania, Baltimore & Ohio and Pittsburgh & Lake Erie railroads.

W&E Investments is evaluating several business opportunities for the property.

“We appreciate the City of McKeesport and RIDC’s ongoing support for our business ventures in the Mon Valley,” said Tom Evans, W&E Investments Co-Owner.

“This marks the beginning of a new chapter for the McKeesport Roadhouse,” said Donald F. Smith, Jr., RIDC President. “W&E’s investment is an important sign of confidence in the future of the Mon Valley and the region as a whole. It’s also a validation of RIDC’s successful strategy over many years, as the Roundhouse is the last building on the site that hadn’t been bought or occupied.”

“Revitalizing this park overall and the historic structure in a way that supports the local economy requires patience, ongoing investment and partnerships with dedicated leaders like Mayor Michael Cherepko, Senator Jim Brewster, Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, and now, Representative Matthew Gergely,” said Timothy White, RIDC’s Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy.
