Long-time RIDC Park West Occupant KTA-Tator Acquires Site for New Facility

Pittsburgh, PA – February 21, 2019 – Regional Industrial Development Corporation of Southwestern Pennsylvania (RIDC) announced that KTA-Tator (KTA) has acquired a 17.65-acre parcel at RIDC Park West, Enterprise Drive, for $1,025,000. KTA is already located at RIDC Park West, having acquired its current location in 1981.

KTA is an employee-owned consulting engineering firm that assesses the integrity of steel and concrete structures and other assets and provides professional consultation and support during any phase of a project, including design, construction, post-construction and maintenance. The company expects site development work for the new building to begin in June with a move-in date in November 2020. It also expects to add at least 20 new employees over the next few years to its current workforce of 103 in Pittsburgh and 287 nationwide.

RIDC Park West is located within the airport corridor off Interstate-376 Parkway West. KTA’s new building will be a 45,000 square-foot facility that will house all its operations, including metalworking, materials testing, analytical laboratories, training facilities for course offerings, instrument sales and corporate office services.

“KTA has enjoyed significant, sustained growth over the past decade, and we foresee that continuing.  This new state-of-the-art building will allow us to consolidate all our current facilities, better support our staff and expand as we need to,” said Daniel Adley, Chief Executive Officer of KTA. “RIDC Park West is ideally situated with multiple access to I-376 and proximity to the airport, downtown, hotels and restaurants, which supports our training clients. Having a great new work environment in a beautiful, convenient business park setting, without any impacts to daily commutes made RIDC Park West an ideal solution.”

RIDC President Donald Smith said: “KTA was one of the first occupants at RIDC Park West and we’ve been proud that the attributes of this site have been valuable to this strong, growing company.”

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) represented KTA in this transaction. Bear Construction/Cannon Design completed preliminary design and feasibility work.
