Many Pittsburgh robotics jobs don’t require advanced degrees

When we think about qualifications for robotics jobs, and the talent eligible to apply, we may picture an engineer who’s had a rigorous education and has graduated from a top-tier school like Carnegie Mellon University with a master’s degree or a Ph.D.

But many of the robotics job openings right now are technical and skilled labor positions that don’t require advanced degrees. While some may require previous experience, and the completion of a formal technical training program, it’s at institutions like Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) and Westmoreland County Community College’s Advanced Technology Center.

Robots need people to operate, troubleshoot and maintain them, and there’s more openings and opportunities to go around than many companies can fill.
