There are over 130 companies and thousands of jobs at RIDC Industrial Park in O’Hara Township alone. As RIDC’s first development project, and one of the first planned industrial parks in the country, the park in O’Hara is a prime real estate location in the competitive North Eastern Pittsburgh submarket and houses over 3.75 million square feet of office, industrial, manufacturing and warehouse space.
RIDC’s commitment to prioritizing job creation in its development decisions is showcased by its relationship with TruFood Manufacturing. In attempt to save a local candy manufacturer, RIDC purchased and renovated a building in O’Hara. Although the company moved out after several years of operation, RIDC attracted the Tsudis Chocolate Company to the facility. After several years of successful operation, the growing and expanding candy company purchased the facility from RIDC and created many new jobs as a result. They rebranded as TruFood Manufacturing, shifting their focus from chocolates to nutritional products sold at most food stores. They are one of the largest employers in O’Hara Township.
Another tenant of note in O’Hara, Aptiv, an autonomous vehicle development company formerly known as Delphi, has also been expanding with plans to bring 100 jobs to the Pittsburgh region. Aptiv runs out of the original headquarters of Carnegie Mellon University’s spinoff company Ottomatika, which became an RIDC tenant in 2015 and was acquired by Delphi that same year.
