RIDC utilizes a comprehensive approach to coordinate a development project from conceptual design through completion and occupancy. To the extent that its direct involvement is appropriate, RIDC also offers effective property management. RIDC can provide build to suit development services for projects from the traditional office and industrial developments to lab and R&D projects. These development services are not limited to RIDC-owned property - RIDC can help companies develop their project in any location in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
RIDC has built more than 100 buildings or building expansions in our organization's lifetime.
Union Switch and Signal building
RIDC completed construction of this $20 million project in 1995 for Union Switch and Signal, now Ansaldo STS. The 175,000 sq ft building in the Pittsburgh Technology Center was financed with support from a $2 million PIDA loan and a private mortgage.
Collaborative Innovation Center building
Coordinating several financing programs with our partners at Carnegie Mellon University, RIDC constructed the CIC using a $1.2 million PIDA loan, $4.1 million Tax-increment financing, and RACP funding. The LEED-certified building atop a 288-car parking garage on CMU's campus was completed in 2005. The 136,000 sq ft building was built as a dry-lab research facility to provide office and lab space for technology companies looking to collaborative with CMU for commercialized products.
Steel City building addition
Steel City came to RIDC in 2006 to help them expand their current building in the RIDC Industrial Center of McKeesport. RIDC completed construction of a 43,000 sq ft building expansion for Steel City, now the Bostwick-Braun company, in 2008. The $2.1 million project was supported by a $1.2 million PIDA loan.
