RIDC leases 60,000 sq ft building to growing SDC Nutrition

RIDC is pleased to announce that SDC Nutrition will be leasing a 60,000 square foot building in the RIDC Park West Industrial Park.

SDC Nutrition had leased a smaller space in a RIDC multi-tenant complex for the past three years, but with their quick expansion, RIDC was able to find the company a larger space to meet their business needs.

 

SDC Nutrition, Inc. started 5 years ago and currently employs 25 team members with a forecast of adding up to 15 more jobs throughout 2014. "We simply have outgrown our current facility and are thrilled to be moving into the facility in Findlay Township," says Co-Founder & Director of Marketing, Devenee Schumacher.  SDC is a Pittsburgh-based company with a primary focus to continue to create more jobs and positively impact the local economy as they provide products for those seeking a healthy lifestyle all over the world.

 

RIDC will be building out the space for the tenant, with plans for SDC to occupy the building this summer.  "RIDC has been committed to creating a seamless transition for our company to move from our current RIDC location to a single occupancy building because of company growth and expected continuation of job creation.”

In addition, Allegheny County Economic Development (ACED) is assisting SDC Nutrition Inc. with its recent expansion.  Through its Economic Development Administration (EDA) revolving loan fund, ACED is providing a $220,000 loan to SDC Nutrition for the purchase of state of the art equipment.  This new equipment will enable SDC to fully automate their manufacturing line and effectively double unit production per shift as well as to institute larger production runs for greater efficiency and economies of scale. It will also allow them to take advantage of larger volume discounts for primary product ingredients.

RIDC Park West also has continued support from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA).
