Almono on showcase as a major regional development
Mayor Peduto brought a group of regional leaders onto the Almono site during a tour of major City developments as part of a summit of the Brookings Institution at Carnegie Mellon University on Monday, March 24. The summit brought together national experts and local leaders to develop an action plan for 21st century economic development critical to Pittsburgh's future.
During a cold but sunny day, the group of 60 or so leaders had the opportunity to look at the incredible progress of our site grading project. Emphasizing the standards in green design that the project will set for projects in the City as well as the creation of an innovation district to connect the neighborhood to university partners, RIDC Vice President of Development Tim White gave an overview of the vision for the riverfront site. With 178 acres of flat land, a view of downtown, and access to the river, the site is poised to be a regional destination.
