The steel structure is mostly up on the new facility

Duquesne Light purchased the 4.6-acre parcel from RIDC last summer and is making great progress on their new building in the Industrial Center of McKeesport.  Crews were out in full force for one of the first nice days of weather. The 26,000 sq ft building will be used as an electric utility service center.

The RIDC Industrial Center of McKeesport was once home to several metal tube and pipe mill companies, notably the U.S. Steel McKeesport National Works site, which operated until 1986.  RIDC started redevelopment of the land in 1990, including new on-site access road systems and utility networks.  The Park, which includes 128 acres, is now home to 6 companies and over 360 jobs.

The new flyover bridge into the industrial park, funded by Allegheny County, was a major factor in the deal.
