Cenveo becomes 3rd major manufacturing tenant at RIDC Westmoreland complex

Date posted: May 27, 2014

RIDC is happy to announce a third major manufacturing tenant at RIDC Westmoreland. Cenveo will join manufacturers DNP, Aquion Energy, as well as the Westmoreland County Community College, whose Advanced Technology Center will open in the Fall.  RIDC took over the former Sony plant in 2012 in order to transform the vacant facility into a muilt-tenant complex that would return high-paying manufacturing jobs to the area.

We look forward to posting photos of the construction progress throughout the year.  Please see Cenveo's press release below for more information.

Press Release

Cenveo has announced the relocation of its current Scottdale, PA facility into 300,000 square-foot of newly renovated space in the 2.8 million square-foot RIDC Westmoreland manufacturing facility. Opening in the summer 2014, the new facility is an exciting next step for Cenveo's envelope product group. With the introduction of the facility in Mount Pleasant, Cenveo will continue its long history of providing innovative solutions and exceptional customer service and will strengthen our position as a premier supply partner for our customers.

Cenveo is investing approximately $4 million in the development of the new plant, representing one of the largest investments made into any company facility in the past 10 years. The Mount Pleasant facility will be the second largest in Cenveo’s portfolio and will include state-of-the-art technology and energy-efficient equipment that will assist Cenveo in its mission to offer the best envelope production and distribution solutions in the industry.

The Mount Pleasant location will be one of Cenveo's envelope showcase facilities, allowing increased innovation in the areas of mail and sophisticated graphics. Cenveo remains committed to helping clients achieve their distribution goals, a mission that will be facilitated by the addition of the new facility.

"We are enthusiastic about bringing Cenveo’s envelope services to Mount Pleasant," said Mark Hiltwein, president of the Envelope Group. "In addition to providing the industry's best printing, labeling, packaging and fulfillment across the county, with this plant, Cenveo will be able to focus more specifically on envelope production, which is an integral part of total packaging solutions. As the largest envelope manufacturer in the U.S., this is an exciting development for the company."

Cenveo is excited to invest in the local Mount Pleasant economy and contribute to the growing workforce in Pennsylvania over the coming decade. After consolidating several other plants, Cenveo is retaining 300 jobs throughout its workforce. This goal is being achieved in part with the help of the RIDC, a private, non-profit that supports regional development and job growth. RIDC will be managing the real estate for the new facility.

“RIDC has allowed us to quickly get this project off the ground," Hiltwein said. "Cenveo has a commitment to investing in the local economy and we look forward to developing a close relationship with the community as well as contributing to job growth." RIDC President Don Smith adds, "RIDC continues to focus on creating places for high quality manufacturing jobs in Western Pennsylvania. We are pleased to welcome Cenveo’s consolidation and expansion as the third important manufacturing employer in the facility. With the support of the Westmoreland County IDC, the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority, and the Commonwealth of PA we continue to focus on restoring the RIDC Westmoreland facility as a significant employment center for the region.”
